A Practical Guide to Nos Repaires

Get ready! To help you navigate the different micro-performances that make up Nos Repaires, we have put together a practical guide designed to answer all of your questions. Plus, we added some suggestions to make the most out of your theatre outing!

PIECE #1

Nightly, an isolated woman creates a rite of escape in her car.

  • Creation: Siona Gareau-Brennan & Cory Haas
  • Neighborhood: Kitsilano, close to the beach
  • Important details: This show is in drive-in format! You will watch this 15-minute performance from the comfort and security of your car. You will also need to install What’s App on your smart phone, an easy and free to download app.
  • Ideal for… eternal romantics, fans of Instagram, lovers of dance, Francophiles and Anglophones, the nostalgic, and those who may be a little Covid-anxious (What’s safer than watching a show from your car?)
  • What to do before or after the show? Pick up your dinner from the numerous restaurants in the neighbourhood who offer take-out or bring popcorn, candy, and pop for a real “drive-in” experience.
  • Practical Advice: Don’t have a car? What about renting an Evo?

PIECE #2

What’s going on behind these closed doors? Isolation allows people to express themselves with total freedom. So look out, because tonight these doors will swing wide open!

  • Creation: Joey Lespérance & Rachel Peake
  • Neighborhood: In the West End, close to English Bay
  • Important Details: There are no physical seats for this short but intense performance!
  • Ideal for…: lovers of old movies and French music, Francophiles, and those who like to secretly watch their neighbours.
  • What to do before or after the show? Stroll the vibrant streets of the West End listening to Throwing Shade a popular queer podcast by Erin Gibson the “feminasty” and Bryan Safi the “homosensual”.
  • Practical Advice: Parking is available next to Sunset Beach, a five-minute walk from the performance venue.

PIECE #3

The amazing true story of an ordinary life.

  • Creation: Thérèse Champagne & Gilles Poulin-Denis
  • Neighborhood: On Granville Island, in Fairview neighborhood
  • Important Details: This performance takes the form of an intimate guided tour
  • Ideal for… word lovers, museum goers, those who love real stories as much as invented, fans of the fantasy author Lewis Carroll.
  • What to do before or after the show? We suggest trying a “Gratitude Walk“, a concept created by American author and motivational speaker, Tony Robbins, during a calm stroll along False Creek at sunset.
  • Practical Advice: Bring your umbrella, better safe than sorry!

PIECE #4

Our receptionist is here to welcome you to the afterlife. Please take a seat in our waiting room and prepare to be admitted to eternity.

  • Creation: Ghislaine Doté & Marie Farsi
  • Neighborhood: Maison de la francophonie, Fairview neighborhood
  • Important Details: This performance is sheltered from the elements. Perfect for those whose schedules don’t allow for the unexpected!
  • Ideal for… Existentialists, fans of immersive experiences, those who are interested in mythology, people who are sensitive to the cold, and those whose schedule is always jam-packed.
  • What to do before or after the show? Why not grab a bite from our friends at Café Salade de fruits, just above? Their space has been adapted to allow for social distancing. They even have a beautiful patio outside.
  • Practical Advice: Prepare yourselves for a good introspective reflection!

PIECE #5

After her block party, Agatha is taking a bath. Amid the bubbles, she reclaims the joy of being alone… and the freedom of the ocean.

  • Creation: Mika Laulainen & Emilie Leclerc
  • Neighborhood: In the West End, close to Denman street
  • Important Details: This performance takes place in one of the most beautiful private gardens in all of Vancouver!
  • Ideal for… Mothers and daughters, those who love to relax in a hot bath, those who like to go to bed early.
  • What to do before or after the show? Grab a seat on one of the many West End patios to sip a glass of bubbly (with or without alcohol, depending on your tastes)…
  • Practical Advice: Parking is available behind Lord Roberts Elementary School.

What happens if weather or smoke doesn’t allow for outdoor performances?

The performances will be cancelled and rebooked, if possible, to an alternative date. We will contact ticketholders at least three hours before the start of the performances via email to inform them of the cancellation, as well as post the news on our social media channels. You will have the choice between holding on to your ticket or getting a refund.
