Mainstage season

Nightwalks with Teenagers

You’re meeting up with a group of local teenagers. Your interest is piqued: tonight is happening outside the theatre walls. Your promising young guides take you on a peculiar excursion through their favourite spots in Vancouver. With them, an improbable playground emerges from familiar parks and neighbourhoods. The youth set the rules, and a feeling of delightful madness takes over. What happens when teens are in charge?

Nightwalks with Teenagers is a unique social performance by Mammalian Diving Reflex, adapted more than 35 times all over the world. Orchestrated by a group of adolescents selected from in and around the city, these tours create shared moments through the simple power of walking together. In seeing the urban landscape anew through youthful eyes, adults are invited to give in, let go, and get in touch with their younger selves. What can we learn from each other as we walk side by side in the dark?
