Lou and Aude are two friends in their thirties who have been inseparable since infancy. One is a civil engineer, the other is a feminist blogger. When Aude learns that she is carrying a child with Down Syndrome, she runs straight to her childhood friend. What follows is an all-out war of words and emotions, as the women unexpectedly clash about their fundamental visions of themselves and the world.
In this fresh and original comedy, the company Les Biches Pensives tackles the question of what self-fulfillment looks like for women. Can you be a “real” woman without being a mother? Is it possible, even now, to choose our lives without bowing to social pressure? Gamètes tackles some weighty themes with outrageous frankness… but armed with her signature biting wit, celebrated playwright Rébecca Déraspe mines the comic gold in every human foible.
