After the birth of her daughter Violette, Avril feels the need to leave Quebec and go elsewhere to find herself. Her instinct leads her to Vancouver, on the edge of the Pacific. However, her hopes face some disillusionment due to high rents, the comings and goings of friends, the fragility of the Francophone community in Western Canada, and the difficulty of settling down elsewhere. Reflecting its time, Violette en avril brings forth themes from the past that still resonate today.
The show marks the beginning of local productions, highlighting artists from here who bring fresh and clear voices to the stage. Since its inception, la Seizième has supported the creation of over 30 projects for both adult and young audiences.
