Description

Intended for Grade 11 and 12 Francophone and French immersion students (10 to 15 students per class), this project allows them to subscribe to our mainstage theatre season each year, at reduced cost.

Projet Point allows students to attend shows destined for an adult audience several times a year. It is a unique opportunity for them to enrich their practice of the French language while discovering and participating in the life of the Francophone community outside of school periods.

Students can choose the dates of the performances and thus decide to attend opening nights or artist talkbacks. They can also benefit from English surtitles. Afterwards, we visit them in class to lead a session aimed at deepening their understanding of the works. Students also have access to the cultural outreach activities organized around the shows.

How it works

Projet Pont is aimed at 11th and 12th-grade students.

The participating school forms a group of motivated students (generally between 10 and 15) who commit to attending several of the mainstage shows offered this season (to choose between Nightwalks with Teenagers, Cispersonnages en quête d’auteurice, Parler mal, Liste des enfants dévorés par les loups, Kevin and La Convivialité). In the days following each performance, a representative from the company visits the school to lead a 30-minute discussion about the play. This is an opportunity for students to delve deeper into the themes of the works and ask their questions.

At the end of the school year, each participant writes a report on their experience (about 150 words), which is sent to Théâtre la Seizième.

Projet Pont requires the involvement of one or more teachers who organize the activity and accompany the students to the theatre. At the beginning of the year, the teacher recruits the students, and then before each performance, collects the dates they have chosen and communicates them to our Audiences Manager. Since some evenings fill up quickly, it is preferable to inform us of the chosen dates at least 3 weeks in advance.

The teacher in charge of the group will receive electronic tickets via email. It is imperative that students who cannot attend any of the performances notify Théâtre la Seizième so that their tickets can be released.

2025-2026 season

In 2025–2026, Théâtre la Seizième continues to offer a rich and varied season. Students will have the chance to see up to six shows, each different from the others, taking them on a journey through a variety of worlds.
