The ÉCHO(S) Award, recognizing our staged reading series, is awarded to Mia Wistaff

Mia Wistaff has been awarded the 2024/25 ÉCHO(S) Award for her performance in the staged reading of Polygraph by Marie Brassard and Robert Lepage.
« The staged reading of Polygraph was quite a challenge, but I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play Lucie in this powerful classic! » said Mia upon receiving the award. « It was a golden experience, and I loved working with the entire team. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. La Seizième is like a family, and I’m so happy to be part of it and to have the chance to create with this amazing group of artists! »
The jury, composed of board member Valérie de la Grange and two season subscribers, Stéphane Gasc and Marie Arcand, was impressed by Mia’s performance. « Mia, with a clear passion for theatre, plays her role with dynamism and conviction. Versatile and full of energy in her performance, she makes her character both believable and deeply grounded » noted Marie Arcand.
This marks Mia’s second collaboration with la Seizième. In 2023/24, she was part of the cast of La Befana, a young audience play by Anaïs Pellin, which toured elementary schools across British Columbia and Alberta for two months. Mia is currently filming the series Surf Bay, côte Ouest, which is set to air on UnisTV in 2026 and on Crave in 2027.
The ÉCHO(S) Award was created to mark Théâtre la Seizième’s 50th season. It highlights the exceptional work of our artists in bringing iconic texts from our theatrical repertoire back to life, and contributes to fostering francophone artistic excellence in Vancouver. The award comes with a $500 grant to support the recipient in their ongoing projects.
