Message from the Honourable Lana Popham, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport

On behalf of Premier David Eby and the Government of British Columbia, it’s my pleasure to congratulate Théâtre la Seizième on its 50th anniversary.

For half a century, Théâtre la Seizième has been a beacon for B.C.’s Francophone arts and culture community. Their dedication to elevating our French-language artists and celebrating the timeless beauty of French-language culture is to be commended. They have contributed to the vibrancy of our communities by producing award-winning productions, bringing recognition to B.C.’s theatre community and enhancing B.C.’s reputation as a great place to live and visit.

I also commend Théâtre la Seizième for its great work in offering theatre-for-young-audiences programming that provides French-language plays for children.

We are proud to support Théâtre la Seizième with funding through the BC Arts Council.

Thank you to those who have been involved with Théâtre la Seizième throughout its long history. Everyone – from the organizers, performers and volunteers to the attendees and sponsors – are an essential part of its success. Your support is helping us build a strong and diverse arts and culture sector.

Best wishes and félicitations once again on this milestone anniversary.

Sincerely,

Hon. Lana Popham,
Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport
